Functional Range Release®
When it comes to hands on therapy, we utilise Functional Range Release® soft tissue techniques. FR Release® is an advanced and comprehensive system of manual musculoskeletal assessment, treatment and rehabilitation used to improve overall tissue quality and movement potential.
It is used by some of the most highly regarded manual therapists around the world and is one of the most effective techniques for treating pain and injuries originating from soft tissue dysfunction. It is very much the gold standard of soft tissue therapy and is a system that is completely grounded in science.
Through our advanced and systematic approach to soft tissue palpation, we are not only able to efficiently locate and delineate anatomic structures, but also interpret and translate tactile information of symptomatic tissues in to clinical decisions regarding appropriate treatment and rehabilitation.

WHERE TREATMENT IS TRAINING
How Does It Work?

We assess your movement capacity through our Functional Range Assessment® prior to any treatment. This allows us to determine your movement limitations before assessing the quality of tissue. Although manual therapy is often associated with treating pain, not all soft tissue dysfunction is the cause, with many issues being completely asymptomatic. These types of issues can be easily identified through our assessment, making pain a fairly unreliable outcome measure.
The FR® system utilises advanced palpatory assessment skills to identify and define areas of abnormal tissue tension that counter the ability to move efficiently. The goal of the manual ‘release’ portion of the FR® system is to influence the long term remodelling of disorganised connective tissue to improve tissue quality, elasticity and resilience.
Our philosophy is to remove the divide between treatment and training and help our clients understand that passive interventions alone will only create temporary change. We reinforce all our passive inputs with isometric loading strategies and joint specific strength training for the purpose of enhancing neurological function and control across articulations, as well as to induce progressive adaptations in connective tissue structures.

FR Release® can be effectively implemented to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including:
-
Muscle, tendon & fascial strains/tears
-
Ligament sprains
-
Tendinosis & Tendonitis
-
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
-
Movement & Motor Control Dysfunction
-
Joint Restrictions
-
Hypermobility & Instability
